3-hr ZOOM workshop Description: SaddleBrooke Fine Arts Guild will be hosting a live zoom workshop with Dawn Emerson on April 11, 2023.  This workshop will give participants a great introduction to understanding how to use PanPastels alone or together with stick pastels and other tools.  People will follow along while Dawn demonstrates, then work on one piece (or more) of their choosing that combines several approaches. Topics will include mixing colors with the PanPastels, simplifying subjects with shape and mass drawing using PanPastels, and story telling with stencils using PanPastels/stick pastels. PanPastels open a whole new world of mark-making and color mixing with pastels that just hasn't been possible with sticks alone.

Dawn Emerson is an award winning pastelist /mixed media artist, international instructor, author of Pastel Innovations, and producer of seven instructional videos. She brings an attitude of playfulness and experimentation to her learning experiences as she merges drawing, painting and other elements into her processes to inspire story telling, freedom, and creativity. In her own work she strives for the “Haiku” version of image making– where less is more, and the individual’s marks and empty spaces tell the story.
