Artist Spotlight
Kathrine Evans
Katherine Evans’ life centers on animals. From her artwork to her volunteer efforts, animal welfare is her driving force. Since moving to Saddlebrooke two years ago, she has created colored pencil portraits of endangered species and beloved pets, donating proceeds to shelters and conservation organizations. She also volunteers at spay and neuter clinics in Arizona.
Her advocacy began while helping at her brother’s restaurant, where she noticed stray cats in need. What started as feeding them grew into founding a nonprofit shelter and clinic, Rude Ranch Animal Rescue, with her husband. She later wrote the best-selling book The Best Little Cathouse in Maryland and appeared on CNN to discuss animal charities.
Katherine recently participated in the Saddlebrooke Fine Art Guild’s Open Studio tour and showed her work at the Art Show and Sale at Mountain View on February 20 and 21. Visitors enjoyed seeing her portrait of the Amur leopard, one of the rarest big cats in the world, with only about 130 remaining in the wild.
