Art Salon
About this event
Come to learn the evolution of Fiber Arts from craft to Fine Art.
Fiber Arts used to be relegated to Women’s crafts and synonymous with Grandma’s doylies and bedquilts. No more! Today, Fiber Arts are shown in Fine Art Galleries and are the focus of articles in art journals. They are on the wish list of high-end art collectors and featured in pages of the New York Times.
Nancy McClusky-Moore and Varda Main (Current and past president of the Saddlebrooke Mixed Media Fiber Arts Club) will take you on a journey from historical fiber crafts to the fine art of today. It was initially a craft for producing items to keep people clothed and as a means of recording cultural events. Today, Fiber Arts are in art galleries and museums. Samples will be presented along with an overview of the Saddlebrooke Mixed Media Fiber Arts Club.
