There are a few class openings available to finish out 2021. The popular Acrylic Painting by Laurie Brussel, starting November 30, still has a couple of spots. Chiaroscuro, What is it and do you use it?

Chiaroscuro-An Italian art term, referring to the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. Have you experimented with this in your art? We would love to see some of your examples. If you have a piece that demonstrates this bold element, send a jpg file to We will highlight these next month.

Art and Wine

$1500 check to Senior Village from the September Art and Wine Event

Saddlebrooke Fine Arts Guild is hosting another Art and Wine Event on November 23. This event is FULL and another one is scheduled for February 12, 2022. Consider volunteering to help for one of these fun evenings. These outreach classes have been extremely popular. They are a great resource for the Guild to give back to the community. In 2021 we have given checks to the Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT), Senior Village of Saddlebrooke, and the November event will give to Family First ( Pregnancy and Family Support of Oracle).

Artist of the Month

Artist of the month, Renee Pearson

The November Artist of the Month is Renee Pearson. Renee Pearson is known for vibrant, larger than life floral, plant and still-life watercolors but the COVID pandemic led her to branch out into other subjects to paint. Check out the complete story here.

November Meeting

Chapel in Barrio Viejo by Teri Gay

We are privileged to have Teri Gay, a local plein air, watercolor artist, present on the topic of Plein Air at the December General Meeting. If you read October’s Guild blog post you will know what plein air means. If not, come on Tuesday December 7 and learn all about it!

On Tuesday December 7, we will be hanging new art in the HOA1 Activity Center Gallery. Watch for specific times and details in the next couple of weeks.

Since November is synonymous with Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving is synonymous with yummy FOOD, wouldn’t this be a great time to make a visit to the University of Arizona Museum of Art to catch their Art of Food Exhibit??

**Save the Date** 2022 SBFAG Fine Art Show

Friday February 18 and Saturday February 19

Saddlebrooke Fine Arts Guild will host the Fine Arts Show of 2022. The dates are February 18-19, 2022. We will be back in the ballroom and hope to have a celebratory show. It is not too early to be planning and preparing your art. As a matter of fact, the Show chairpersons are looking for new images of art work to use in publicity brochures. If you have something to share, email Delys at by the end of November.

Here are the Show Guidelines to help you with your preparations. The Show applications will go live in January and there will be a presentation at the January General Meeting to help everyone navigate the process.
